Fall is one of my favorite seasons for family photos in North Texas, and Frisco Commons is always such a beautiful choice.
With its open green spaces, mature trees, winding paths, and warm seasonal color, it gives families plenty of variety without feeling overly formal or complicated.
For this session, we focused on creating a mix of relaxed portraits, natural interaction, and those in-between moments that make family photos feel personal. I always want families to leave with more than just a few posed images. The goal is to capture connection, personality, and the little things that make this season of life feel like yours.
Why This Location Works So Well
Frisco Commons is one of my go-to family photography locations because it offers so much variety in one easy-to-access spot. We can move between open fields, shaded areas, tree-lined paths, and more textured backgrounds without spending the whole session walking from place to place.
It also works especially well for families with younger kids because there is room to move, play, and take breaks when needed. Some of the best images often happen when everyone has a chance to relax and forget about the camera for a minute.
During the fall, the park becomes even prettier as the light softens and the landscape takes on warmer tones. It creates a timeless backdrop that photographs beautifully without distracting from the people in the images.
What to Wear
For fall sessions at Frisco Commons, I usually recommend starting with soft neutrals and adding a few warmer seasonal tones.
Colors like cream, camel, olive, rust, muted blue, soft brown, and burgundy can all work beautifully. Rather than having everyone match exactly, aim for outfits that coordinate through color, texture, and overall style.
Layers are especially helpful in the fall. Sweaters, jackets, boots, textured fabrics, and simple accessories can add interest to the photos while still keeping the overall look natural.
Most importantly, choose clothing that feels comfortable and true to your family. If everyone feels good in what they are wearing, it makes the entire session easier.
